Born Limehouse, East London, enlisted Stratford, East London. Husband of E. M. Cuttriss, of Clock Terrace, Thornham, King's Lynn. Buried in BLEUET FARM CEMETERY, Ieper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Grave I. C. 36.

MITCHELL Herbert James

[Listed as Sergeant on memorial] Corporal 240188, 1st/5th Battalion (Territorial Force), Norfolk Regiment. Died in Gaza, Palestine 19th April 1917. Age 24. Born Thornham, enlisted Hunstanton. Son of Mr. H. J. and Louisa Mitchell, of High St., Thornham, King's Lynn. Commemorated on JERUSALEM MEMORIAL, Israel. Panel 12 to 15.

Acting Stoker Petty Officer K/5042, H.M. Submarine L55, Royal Navy. Died in the Baltic 9th June 1919. Age 27. Son of William and Deborah Parnell, of Thornham, King's Lynn; husband of Gladys Parnell, of 20, College Crescent, Swiss Cottage, Hampstead, London. Buried in HASLAR ROYAL NAVAL CEMETERY, Hampshire. "L55" Grave.

PETERSEN Frank Sadler

Airman 2nd Class, Recruits' Training Centre, Halton Camp, Wendover, Royal Flying Corps (Royal Air Force). Died in Cambridgeshire Hospital 27th March 1917. Age 25. Son of Mrs. M. A. Wright (formerly Petersen), of Church St., Thornham, and the late Helmer Petersen. Buried in ALL SAINTS CHURCHYARD, THORNHAM, Norfolk.

WALKER Robert

Gunner 93453, 350th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Killed in action in France 4th October 1918. Age 33. Son of Haylett and Ann Walker; husband of Lilian Louise Crowe (formerly Walker), of Shire Stud, Wolferton, King's Lynn. Buried in DADIZEELE NEW BRITISH CEMETERY, Moorslede, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. FRANCIS Samuel

Private 8617, 2nd Battalion, Norfolk Regiment. Died at Sahiba, Rersia 14th April 1915. Born Thornham, enlisted Norwich. Buried in BASRA WAR CEMETERY, Iraq. Grave III. E. 6.

MANN Albert George

Private 16536, 2nd Battalion, Northamptonshire Regiment. Died in France 13thy March 1915. Age 22. Born Ringstead, Nrfolk, enlisted Peterborough, Northamptonshire. Son of George Mann, of Thornham, King's Lynn. Buried in MERVILLE COMMUNAL CEMETERY, Nord, France. Grave I. N. 7.

POTTER John William

Private 28201, 6th Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment. Died of wounds at the Somme 18th November 1916. Age 33. Born and resident Thornham, enlisted Norwich. Son of Fredrick and Jane Potter, of Thornham, King's Lynn; husband of Maud M. Potter, of High House, Docking, King's Lynn, Norfolk. Buried in ETAPLES MILITARY CEMETERY, Pas de Calais, France. PROUDFOOT Henry George

Rifleman R/38274, 16th Battalion, King's Royal Rifle Corps. Died of wounds in France 15th April 1918. Age 26. Born Thornham, enlisted Norwich, resident King's Lynn. Son of Mrs. Annie R. SIDDLE Thomas Edward

Private 193535, 15th Battalion, Canadian Infantry (Central Ontario Regiment), Canadian Expeditionary Force. Died in France 9th April 1917. Born 18th April 1890 at Thornham, Norfolk, resident 17 Brookfield Street, Toronto, Canada. Wife Mary Ann Siddle. By trade a blacksmith. Previous to this enlistment had served 2 years with the 5th Battalion (Territorial), Norfolk Regiment. Enlisted and passed fit 20th March 1916 at Toronto, Canada, aged 26 years 11 months, height 5 feet 6 inches, girth 37 inches, complexion fair, eyes blue, hair fair. Religion Church of England. WOODS Charles William

Private [SDGW states 36968] 26968, 10th Battalion, Prince of Wales's Own (West Yorkshire Regiment). Killed in action in France 24th August 1918. Age 21. Born in Thornham 1897, enlisted and resident York. Son of Nathaniel and Mary Ann Agnes Woods, of The Bays, Thornham, King's Lynn. Nathaniel was the last merchant to use the port of Thornham 1914. Commemorated on VIS-EN-ARTOIS MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France. Panel 4.
